An All Time Record!
You may recall that back in March, 2010 we asked for your
participation in the Allan Shawn Feinstein Foundation $1 million
challenge for hunger relief on behalf of the Greater Woodbury Cooperative
Ministries (GWCM) food bank.
The results of that fundraiser have just been received. Mr. Feinstein’s $1 million offer raised a
remarkable $230 million nationwide from almost 2,000 anti-hunger agencies. This is the most successful campaign of
all times to fight hunger in America.
Because of the great success of the Feinstein challenge,
each participant’s portion of the $1 million was, of course, proportionally
very small. The GWCM share was $287. This may seem disappointing, but this is a generous donation to this this ministry. Further, the Feinstein challenge,
spurred our total giving between April & May to $15,547 in cash and food
donations.
Thank
you to all who made this campaign a success.
Your donations are well spent. Our
all-volunteer staff and the utilization of space and facilities within our
faith communities allow the GWCM to spend more than $.99 of every dollar donated for the
direct purchase of food for your neighbors, many of whom are experiencing
hunger for the first time in their lives.
Please continue your support of this ministry with your time, financial
& food donations.
Results of are in! May 2,
